Cillian Murphy and Daniel Craig in Talks for Damien Chazelle's Upcoming Prison Drama
May 21, 2025: Acclaimed director Damien Chazelle is reportedly in discussions with Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy and Daniel Craig for his next film project, according to a Deadline report. While the film remains untitled, sources suggest it will be set within a prison environment.
Chazelle, known for his work on La La Land and Babylon, has not only penned the script but will also direct and produce the project under his Wild Chickens Productions banner, alongside Olivia Hamilton. Paramount Pictures is attached to distribute the film globally.

Insiders indicate that if negotiations are successful, filming is likely to begin later this year. The prison drama emerged as Chazelle’s preferred next venture after discussions around an Evel Knievel biopic, which had Leonardo DiCaprio potentially attached, stalled.
Cillian Murphy continues to ride high following his Oscar win for Oppenheimer. He recently completed filming Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, and was also seen in Small Things Like These.
Daniel Craig, meanwhile, earned a Golden Globe nomination for his role in the A24 film Queer. He is also set to reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc in Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man, premiering later this year on Netflix.
If confirmed, this marks a powerful collaboration between three Hollywood heavyweights, promising a gripping cinematic experience.
