Cillian Murphy bags Best Actor award for 'Oppenheimer'
Evidently, 2024 is ‘Oppenheimer’s Day’ at the Golden Globes. Following in the footsteps of Robery Downey Jr. and director Christopher Nolan, the “Oppenheimer” team has now taken home yet another Best Actor trophy. For his role in the biopic film “Oppenheimer,” Hollywood actor Cillian Murphy won the Golden Globe for Best Male Actor—Motion Picture—Drama in 2024. The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California is the host of the 81st Golden Globes. Golden Globes posted on their official account on X, formerly Twitter, with the caption, “Congratulations to Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer on your WIN for Best Male Actor – Motion Picture – Drama! #GoldenGlobes.”
The World War II biopic centres on Oppenheimer, dubbed the “Father of the Atomic Bomb,” who pushed the button to test the bomb despite knowing that doing so would ignite the atmosphere and wipe out civilization. Cillian Murphy plays “Oppenheimer,” and this is the first time he’s landed the lead in a Christopher Nolan production. Murphy has been a constant in many of Nolan’s films, having previously starred in “Inception,” “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” and “Dunkirk.”
Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, Josh Peck, Jason Clarke, David Dastmalchian, Alex Wolff, James D’Arcy, and a host of other celebrities are among the renowned actors in the cast. Matt Damon, Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer, Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, and Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock. The movie came out on July 21.
