Coldplay’s Concert In Ahmedabad Breaks Records

January 30, 2025: Ahmedabad made history on January 25 and 26, 2025, hosting India’s largest-ever concert with British band Coldplay captivating an audience of over 2.5 lakh people at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. With 1.3 lakh tickets sold, the event saw music enthusiasts from across India and beyond flocking to the city, marking a significant milestone for live events in India.

The seamless execution of the event was made possible through a strong partnership between the Gujarat government, local authorities, and concert organizers. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat ensured impeccable security, transportation, and event management, contributing to the concert’s success.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the event, highlighting India’s potential to become a global hub for live concerts, with world-class infrastructure already in place. The success of Coldplay’s concert builds on Gujarat’s reputation as a destination for major international events, following the successful hosting of the 2023 G-20 Summit and Cricket World Cup.

The event’s influence was felt across the city, with Ahmedabad’s metro services recording an all-time high in ridership—4,05,264 passengers—surpassing records set during major sporting events. The concert also generated significant revenue, with metro earnings totaling Rs 66 lakh over the two days.

Security was a top priority, with over 1,800 police personnel ensuring a safe and smooth experience for concertgoers. Additionally, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation managed waste efficiently, clearing over 1,500 tons within 48 hours, contributing to a clean environment.

The Coldplay concert also made a substantial impact on the local economy. With more than 900 flights arriving at Ahmedabad International Airport, businesses across the city, including hotels, restaurants, and street vendors, saw a boost in footfall and sales.

During the concert, Chris Martin, the band’s lead vocalist, paid a heartfelt tribute to India by performing patriotic songs like “Vande Mataram” and “Maa Tujhe Salaam,” winning the crowd’s adoration. He also dedicated a special song to cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, humorously recalling Bumrah’s destructive performance against England. The show was streamed live on Disney+ Hotstar, allowing fans from all over the world to experience the magic.

As the final concert of Coldplay’s India leg concluded on Republic Day, Chris Martin ended the evening with a message of love for India, stating, “Salute to Mother India,” leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of fans in Ahmedabad.
