Colman Domingo Reacts To Rumors About Replacing Jonathan Majors As Kang In MCU

Kang, a prominent supervillain from Marvel Comics, has been a key character in the MCU, portrayed by Majors in projects like Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Domingo, known for his work in Euphoria and Fear the Walking Dead, spoke about the speculation during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. He shared that there had been some conversations about his potential involvement in the MCU, prompting him and his PR team to sit down with Marvel Studios for a meeting to clarify the situation.

“I think there had been conversations of me coming to Marvel in some way,” Domingo said, explaining that he met with Marvel’s leadership to discuss the future landscape of the MCU and whether the rumors about Kang were true. However, Domingo clarified that he was not interested in replacing someone else’s role. “I want a role to be mine, whatever that role is, whatever I develop,” he said. “Something didn’t feel right of me, like, ‘Oh, would I replace someone?’ No, I want to build something from the ground up that’s my own.”

While Domingo acknowledged that he was uncertain if the idea of him taking over Kang was ever discussed, he expressed openness to working with Marvel Studios on a future project, as long as it involved creating something new and unique.

“I still don’t know if I was discussed [for the role of Kang], but I just know that I would want to build something up from the ground up,” he added.

The speculation surrounding Kang’s future in the MCU comes amid legal troubles for Jonathan Majors, who has been facing allegations that have sparked public discussion about his continued involvement in the franchise. While Marvel Studios has yet to make an official statement on Majors’ future, the rumors about Domingo have only fueled interest in what the next steps for the MCU will be.
