The superstar’s latest action-packed film collected a staggering Rs 118.50 crore within 48 hours, dominating the box office and leading the race against the multi-starrer War 2.
August 16, 2025: Once again, superstar Rajinikanth has proven that he is the best at the box office. His latest movie, Coolie, is still breaking records at the box office. Sun Pictures made the action-packed movie, which broke records by making Rs 118.50 crore in just two days (in all languages).
Experts in trade estimate that the movie made a lot of money on its first day, Rs 65 crore. The movie did well on its second day, August 15, thanks to the Independence Day vacation. It made an estimated Rs 53.50 crore.
Coolie has trounced War 2, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, in a highly anticipated box office fight. On its second day, War 2 generated Rs 56.5 crore, taking its total to Rs 108 crore, which is more than Rs 10 crore less than the Rajinikanth movie. Both movies did well over the holiday weekend, and trade experts anticipate the good times will last into the long weekend.
The movie went really well because it had a lot of people watching it in India. The Tamil version had the most viewers, with an occupancy rate of 80.70 percent. A lot of people also watched in the Telugu states and Hindi belt, with occupancy rates of 85.42 percent and 54.60 percent, respectively.
Coolie is not only a commercial success, but it also illustrates how well-known Rajinikanth is in India. The cast of the movie is superb, including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, and Aamir Khan making a big cameo.
