Hamsini Entertainment, the overseas distributor of Superstar Rajinikanth’s film Coolie, has issued a stern legal warning against individuals and groups spreading fake box office numbers. The company has threatened to sue for defamation and financial damages.

August 27, 2025: Hamsini Entertainment, the international distributor of Superstar Rajinikanth’s new movie Coolie, has taken strong action against people and groups who are circulating false box office figures online. The company warned it would sue anyone who tries to falsely claim that the movie did poorly, and they would do so for defamation and financial damages.

In an official statement on its social media channels, the firm claimed, “We have noticed that some groups and unofficial pages with their own interests are spreading false box office numbers and making a lot of noise about the global performance of Coolie.”

The distributor underlined how crucial it is to be open and honest and encouraged customers to always get information from official sources. “Only producers and Hamsini Entertainment (Overseas Distributor) will send out official updates about the collection.” The message went on to stress that any other numbers that are circulating around online are not reliable and should not be taken as true.

The movie, which was directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj, is still playing in theaters. It was released on August 14. The company also warned that giving out inaccurate numbers is “not only misleading but also directly harmful to the film’s reputation, its stakeholders, and the people who trust us.”

Coolie, Rajinikanth’s 171st movie, has a star-studded ensemble that includes Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. The movie’s music was written by Anirudh Ravichander. He has worked with Lokesh Kanakaraj three times before. The director has indicated that this movie is not part of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) and is a different project.
