‘Coolie’ Mania: Rajinikanth’s New Movie Breaks Box Office Records with Huge Advance Bookings

The highly anticipated Lokesh Kanagaraj film has already crossed ₹50 crore in international advance bookings, laying the ground for a record-breaking opening. There are still four days to go until it comes out.

August 10, 2025, in Mumbai, India: The box office is seeing something that has never happened before, and it’s all because of superstar Rajinikanth. Four days before its premiere, his new movie, “Coolie,” is already shattering records with over ₹50 crore in advance bookings around the world. This huge amount has been reached even though the rise in domestic advance bookings is still in its early stages. This means that the final numbers might potentially quadruple by the time the movie comes out.

One of the most talked-about movies of the year is “Coolie,” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan, and Aamir Khan makes a cameo appearance in the movie across India. The international market has been crazy, and trade insiders say that by Sunday, the film’s overseas gross had probably already topped $5 million (₹42 crore).

The response in the US has been just as explosive. Since pre-sales started on Friday, “Coolie” has already sold tickets worth ₹10 crore for its first day and ₹14 crore total. Most of these sales are for the original Tamil version, but the Telugu and Kannada versions have also gotten off to a good start. The Hindi dub is behind right now, but it should speed up as the release date gets closer.

These amazing stats show that “Coolie” has already broken the record for the most advance bookings for a Rajinikanth movie. The previous record was held by “Jailer,” which made ₹18 crore in India. The next goal is to break the all-time record of ₹46 crore set by “Leo.”

The movie’s performance before it came out was so good that it has already made more money around the world than some of the biggest movies ever. The ₹41 crore that the movie made internationally is more than what Kamal Haasan’s last movie, “Thug Life,” made in the foreign market.

With its record-breaking advance ticket sales, “Coolie” is set to have one of the greatest openings for an Indian film ever, and it will almost certainly be the biggest opening of Rajinikanth’s long career.
