Criminal Justice: A Family Matter Trailer: Pankaj Tripathi Returns for a Twist-Filled Legal Drama

May 14, 2025: Criminal Justice is back, and with it returns one of Indian OTT’s most beloved characters — the quick-witted, chai-loving small-town lawyer Madhav Mishra, played by the ever-brilliant Pankaj Tripathi. The trailer for Season 4, titled Criminal Justice: A Family Matter, just dropped, and fans are already gripped by its promise of high-stakes courtroom drama, emotional turmoil, and a case that’s anything but straightforward.

This time, the tagline says it all: “Iss baar sach ke do nahi, teen pehlu hain.” Yes, this isn’t your average case of he-said-she-said — it’s more like he-said, she-said, and what-the-heck-is-happening?! Even Madhav, who usually handles chaos with calm charm, seems ruffled.

The trailer introduces a complex case involving Anju Nagpal (played by Surveen Chawla) and her husband Dr. Raj Nagpal (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), who is accused of murdering his girlfriend. Just when Madhav thinks he’s defending a wrongly accused man, deeper layers unfold. Affairs, secrets, and betrayal rise to the surface — and in a shocking twist, Anju herself gets arrested.

Speaking about the show, Pankaj Tripathi shared,

“This season of Criminal Justice is more than just a return to the courtroom for Madhav Mishra – it is an intense battle of minds… Stepping into Madhav’s shoes and shooting for Criminal Justice is always a learning experience.”

He added,

“He is such a lovable character and I feel like he has now become my alter ego. We also have some very talented actors joining us this season who add so much value to the story. I’m excited for fans to watch the show on JioHotstar.”

The ensemble cast this season includes Asha Negi, Khushboo Atre, Barkha Singh, Aatm Prakash Mishra, Mita Vashisht, and Shweta Basu Prasad, among others. Directed by Rohan Sippy and produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India, Criminal Justice: A Family Matter premieres on JioHotstar on May 29.

Get ready for twists, courtroom theatrics, and a whole lot of emotional tension — because Madhav Mishra is back, and justice is about to get complicated.
