Twelve years ago, Alia made her acting debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year (SOTY), starring alongside Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. While her role in the film didn’t garner rave reviews, Alia’s growth as an actress in the years that followed has been remarkable.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Alia revealed that she was paid ₹15 lakh for her debut role as Shanaya Singhania in SOTY. Interestingly, instead of keeping her first paycheck, she handed it over to her mother, Soni Razdan, saying, “Mamma, you handle the money.” To this day, Alia shares that her mother continues to manage her finances.
