In a testing start for the high-octane thriller, the Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur starrer Dacoit has recorded an underwhelming opening at the box office. On its first day, Friday, April 10, 2026, the film managed to collect ₹6.50 crore across India.

While the Telugu version contributed a steady ₹5.60 crore, the Hindi dubbed version struggled to make a mark, bringing in only ₹90 lakh. Despite the decent pre-release buzz surrounding the fresh pairing of Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, the film failed to witness the expected surge during evening and night shows, likely dampened by early negative reviews.
Market analysts note that Dacoit has struggled to outperform Adivi Sesh’s previous hit, HIT: The Second Case, which opened to ₹6.40 crore in the Telugu market alone. With a reported budget of ₹80–100 crore, an opening below the ₹10 crore mark is seen as a significant hurdle for the film’s recovery. Critics have pointed toward a convoluted screenplay with “endless plots and subplots” as a major deterrent, with many reviews labeling the movie a “one-time watch” at best.

Compounding the challenge is the continued dominance of Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. Even on its 23rd day, the action epic collected ₹6.70 crore—outperforming Dacoit’s opening day by ₹20 lakh. The “Ranveer wave” remains a formidable force in the Hindi markets, especially following the actor’s viral appearance at Anant Ambani’s Jamnagar birthday celebrations, where he was seen immersing himself in spiritual bhajan sessions with the Ambani family.
