Daisy Ridley Returns To Star Wars Universe, Talks Upcoming Sequel Script And MCU Future
February 12, 2025: Daisy Ridley, who gained global recognition for her role as Rey in the Star Wars franchise, has shared an exciting update on the upcoming Star Wars sequel. The actress confirmed that she will reprise her role as Rey in the new film, which is set to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and written by George Nolfi.
In a recent interview, Ridley expressed her enthusiasm for the script and its development. While she hasn’t read the latest version yet, she remains confident in the direction of the story. “I have not read the latest script, but I know what’s happening, and I know the story. And I think what feels really good is that George is a phenomenal writer,” she said. Ridley went on to add that she is excited about how the story is shaping up and believes the final product will be worth the wait for fans.
Ridley first portrayed Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), and reprised the role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). Despite the mixed reactions to the trilogy, Ridley has maintained a positive outlook on her experience in the Star Wars universe, acknowledging the passion and dedication of the fans.
In addition to her Star Wars update, Ridley opened up about her future career possibilities. She revealed she is not opposed to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the future. Ridley, who has already worked with Matthew Sharp, a second assistant director on Avengers films, shared that she’s open to superhero roles if the opportunity arises. “If they call, absolutely,” she said, expressing her interest in working on various types of films, including superhero movies.
Ridley’s comments come after she reflected on the challenges she faced during her time in the Star Wars franchise. She admitted the criticism of her portrayal of Rey, especially after The Last Jedi, was still upsetting, but she remains proud of her work. “It’s still upsetting,” Ridley said. “You don’t want people to feel like you’ve not served the thing they’re a fan of.”
As she moves forward with her career, Ridley is eager to see how both her return to Star Wars and the possibility of joining the MCU unfold. Fans of the actress can look forward to seeing more of her work, whether in the Star Wars galaxy or beyond.
