Actor Daisy Shah criticised election campaigners for bursting firecrackers in Mumbai, claiming it caused a fire in an apartment next to her residence. She shared videos on Instagram explaining the incident and expressing her frustration.
Incident Details
In her videos, Daisy showed the apartment engulfed in flames and said:
“This is the result of bursting firecrackers on the street. People don’t understand…These people have run away. There were 200 people.”
She added that the campaigners were lighting crackers outside buildings before entering them for door-to-door campaigning. Daisy’s own building committee refused them entry, preventing further risk.
“Where is the civic sense of the people? Really! Bursting crackers next to the buildings is not the way to go about it. It ain’t a natural calamity, it’s caused by brainless people. TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY … IT’S HIGH TIME,” she said.
On Naming a Political Party
Daisy also explained why she mentioned the political party involved:
“I did that so that there is accountability and responsibility. If there was a mishap caused by your team, step into it…that poor guy has lost his house.”
She emphasised that she is not politically affiliated and has never been, saying:
“I’ve got nothing to do with politics… I’m all heart for the people who wish good for their country, and that is me. What is WRONG is WRONG… Period!”
