Daisy Shah Slams Poll Campaigners After Fire Breaks Out Near Her Mumbai Flat

The actor slams “brainless” campaigners for a lack of civic sense after a 12-storey building in Bandra (East) caught fire on Tuesday night.

January 7, 2025: In a scathing social media post, Bollywood actor Daisy Shah has called out political campaign teams for their “reckless” behavior after a fire broke out at a residential complex in Kher Nagar, Bandra (East) on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

The incident occurred around 8:54 PM on the 11th floor of a 12-storey building. While the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) acted swiftly to control the flames, the actress—who was walking her dogs nearby at the time—revealed the cause was far from accidental.

The Controversy: Crackers and Campaigns

According to Daisy Shah, the fire was allegedly triggered by fireworks used by an election campaign team passing through the area.

  • Lack of Civic Sense: Shah took to Instagram to share a video of the smoke-filled building, stating, “Bursting crackers next to buildings is not the way to go about it This is what happens when people lack civic sense.”
  • Accountability: She clarified that she holds no political bias but urged candidates to vet the teams they hire. “It ain’t a natural calamity, it’s caused by brainless people. Take accountability,” she wrote.
  • Close Call: The actress also revealed that her own building committee had recently refused permission for these specific campaigners to enter their premises for door-to-door visits—a move she now credits for preventing a potential disaster at her own residence.

Incident Report: Bandra (East) Fire

The Mumbai Fire Brigade classified the fire as a “minor” incident due to the quick response time, but the location made it a high-risk situation.
