June 11, 2025: After years of an on-again, off-again relationship, Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin have reportedly called it quits again — this time amid disagreements over marriage plans and starting a family.

According to a recent Page Six report, a source close to the couple revealed that Dakota grew frustrated with Chris’s reluctance to set a wedding date.
“She was sick of him dragging his feet on setting a date for the wedding,” the insider said, suggesting that the delay put Dakota “on edge.”
💍 Engagement Rumors and Long-Term Commitment
The couple, who first began dating in 2017, have had a complex history with breakups and reconciliations. They reportedly split in June 2019 but sparked engagement rumors later that year when Dakota was spotted wearing a large emerald ring.
In March last year, Page Six further reported that the couple had been engaged for six years. Yet, PEOPLE magazine had also stated the pair were “in no rush to get married.”

Another major point of contention reportedly involved their differing views on having children.
A source told Page Six that Chris Martin, who has two children with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, does not want more kids, while Dakota, 35, is said to desire children in the future.
“They broke up over Chris Martin not wanting to have more kids,” the source said.

The age difference—Chris is 48, Dakota is 35—also reportedly added strain.
According to a source quoted by The Sun, the couple “really tried to work through their issues,” but the age gap and future plans often led to disagreements.
She reportedly expressed wanting children, while Chris is “done with that part of his life.”
