Deepak Tijori Cheated of ₹2.5 Lakh
Actor files police complaint after funds promised for upcoming film fail to materialise
January 15, 2026: A case has been registered against three individuals for allegedly cheating Bollywood actor Deepak Tijori of ₹2.5 lakh on the pretext of arranging financial backing for his upcoming film. According to police, Tijori was looking for investors when a friend introduced him to one of the accused, who claimed to have links with a music company and assured him of funding support.
In February last year, the actor was introduced to another accused who presented herself as a film producer and promised to secure investors for the project. She reportedly demanded ₹5 lakh for arranging the funding. Trusting the assurances, Tijori paid ₹2.5 lakh as the first instalment. The accused also promised to provide a “Letter of Interest” from a well-known content company within a week and even signed an agreement to that effect.
However, the promised document was never delivered, and the accused allegedly began avoiding the actor’s calls and messages. Realising he had been duped, Tijori filed a complaint at the Bangur Nagar police station last month. Police have registered a case and said all three accused will be summoned for questioning as investigations into the alleged cheating are currently underway.
