Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday Slammed For Praising Alleged ‘Wife-Beater, Abuser’

July 4, 2025: Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday are facing backlash online after expressing their admiration for Brad Pitt, following the global release of his much-anticipated film F1. While fans across the world celebrated the Hollywood icon’s performance, a section of social media, particularly Reddit users, criticized the Indian actresses for overlooking serious domestic abuse allegations against Pitt.

Deepika shared a short but enthusiastic tribute on her Instagram Stories:

“Brad Pitt. That’s it, that’s the post.”

Shortly after, Ananya Panday echoed the sentiment, writing:

“I love the movies!! I love F1!! I love caramel and cheese popcorn!! And I LOVE Brad Pitt.”

Their admiration, however, didn’t sit well with many on Reddit, who pointed out Pitt’s history of alleged abuse against ex-wife Angelina Jolie and their children.

“Wife beater. That’s it. That’s the post. Iykyk,” one Reddit user commented.

“Are we forgetting Brad Pitt is a known domestic abuser? Is DP ok?” wrote another.

Critics accused the celebrities of glamorizing or ignoring the abuse claims that Jolie raised in court filings. These included serious allegations from a 2016 incident on a private jet, where Pitt allegedly physically assaulted Jolie and some of their children. Jolie claimed that Pitt “choked one child and struck another in the face”, and that he poured beer and wine on them during the flight.

“When the actor has beaten up his kids and choked their mother in front of them… broadcasting that love is wildly stupid and insensitive,” one user remarked.

While Brad Pitt has denied the allegations and was never criminally charged, the claims have resurfaced in public discourse amid his return to high-profile movie roles like F1.

The backlash highlights the growing expectation for celebrities to be mindful of their public endorsements, especially when it involves figures with controversial histories. Neither Deepika nor Ananya has responded to the criticism so far.

As the conversation around accountability in entertainment intensifies, fans are calling for more awareness and sensitivity from public figures when it comes to supporting or celebrating individuals accused of serious misconduct.
