May 28, 2025: Amid the controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone‘s reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit, an old interview featuring Neha Dhupia and Ananya Panday has resurfaced, shedding light on Deepika’s influence on younger actors in the industry.

Speaking to Mirchi Plus, Neha Dhupia recalled a conversation with Ananya Panday during which the young actress credited Deepika Padukone for teaching her the importance of knowing and asserting her rights on set. “I once asked Ananya, ‘What is the one thing you’ll never settle for in life?’ She told me how, while shooting Gehraiyaan with Deepika, she observed how Deepika always took ownership of her work,” Neha said.

Neha continued, “If Deepika needed another take, or if her hair had to be perfect, or if she needed time to remember her lines—she wasn’t afraid to ask. That’s what Ananya learnt: it’s your right as an actor to demand what helps you perform your best. And she did it respectfully and professionally.”

This revelation comes at a time when Deepika is reportedly no longer a part of Spirit due to a fallout with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Reports claim that the actress, now a new mother, had requested an 8-hour workday and a remuneration of Rs 20 crore—demands that allegedly clashed with the production’s terms.

As a result, Animal actress Triptii Dimri has officially stepped in as the female lead opposite Prabhas. According to Telugu reports, Triptii is being paid approximately Rs 4 crore for her role—a significantly lower amount than what Deepika was offered.

While the production team has yet to confirm the financial details or Deepika’s exit officially, Spirit continues to remain in the spotlight. The film, currently in its scripting phase, is expected to go on floors later this year and is scheduled for a 2027 release.
