January 22, 2025: To mark the seventh anniversary of the epic historical drama Padmaavat, the makers have announced that the film will be re-released in theatres on January 24, 2025. The announcement comes as fans of the film continue to celebrate its immense success since its initial release on January 25, 2018. The film captivated audiences with its grand visuals, powerful performances, and historical storytelling, making it a monumental hit at the box office.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmaavat is based on the 16th-century epic poem by Malik Muhammad Jayasi and tells the legendary tale of Rani Padmavati, portrayed by Deepika Padukone. The film centers on her beauty, valor, and the brutal efforts of Sultan Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh, to conquer her kingdom. Shahid Kapoor plays the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh, Padmavati’s loyal husband, and the film features a strong supporting cast including Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka.
In addition to its compelling narrative, Padmaavat is known for its visual grandeur, with stunning sets, extravagant costumes, and a memorable soundtrack. The music, composed by Bhansali, features iconic tracks such as “Ek Dil Ek Jaan,” “Binte Dil,” “Ghoomar,” and “Khali Bali,” which became hugely popular.
The film marked the third collaboration between Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the celebrated real-life couple, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, following their successful partnerships in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.
