Demi Moore Embraces Ageing as a Gift, Reflects on Oscar Loss with Grace
Washington [US], April 24:
Veteran Hollywood star Demi Moore is redefining what it means to age in the spotlight. Speaking at the Time100 Summit, the 62-year-old actress shared her thoughts on self-acceptance, ageing, and losing out on the Best Actress Oscar 2025 to Mikey Madison.
“Ageing and being old are not the same thing,” Moore said, adding, “Ageing actually is a tremendous gift. You could not pay me to be 21 again — it was torture!”
Moore, who’s been at the heart of evolving conversations around women in Hollywood, noted that society has changed significantly over time.
“There was a sense of things ending at a certain point… but the reality is, we’re evolving — it’s not ending,” she shared.
She added that she now finds herself in a “peaceful space of acceptance and freedom,” embracing her journey rather than resisting it.
Though she didn’t win this year’s Best Actress Oscar, Moore reflected on the experience with maturity and optimism.
“Would I like to be on that stage someday? I think that would be nice. I can’t say I’d be mad at it,” she said.
“But the question ‘Should I have won?’ — that’s not how I look at it. I didn’t. And I believe everything in life is happening for me, not to me.”
Moore concluded with a message about growth and humility, saying:
“There’s something greater than I am to be in service to, even if I don’t know what that is. The message here is that there’s more work to be done.”
From her outlook on ageing to her graceful handling of awards season, Moore continues to inspire — proving that time can be a friend, not a foe, in a world obsessed with youth.
