Dennis To Returns In New Martial Arts Film ‘IP Man: Kung Fu Legend’

May 18, 2025: The legendary martial arts franchise Ip Man is set to expand with a brand-new instalment titled ‘IP Man: Kung Fu Legend’, featuring Hong Kong actor and martial artist Dennis To reprising his role as the Wing Chun grandmaster.

The film was officially unveiled at the Cannes Film Market, Variety reported.

Currently in production, ‘IP Man: Kung Fu Legend’ is slated to finish filming by the third quarter of 2025. Well Go USA will handle North American distribution across multiple platforms, while All Rights Entertainment, the global distributor for the previous instalment Ip Man: Kung Fu Master (2021), will oversee international sales.

The film follows the events of Ip Man: Kung Fu Master, which earned acclaim for its fresh narrative and action sequences that reimagined the martial arts icon for a global audience.

Dennis To, who first portrayed Ip Man in 2010’s ‘The Legend Is Born: Ip Man’, has since become a recurring face in spin-offs such as ‘Ip Man: Kung Fu Master’ (2019) and ‘Ip Man: The Awakening’ (2022).

The original Ip Man franchise, made famous by Donnie Yen and directed by Wilson Yip, launched in 2008 and has since become a cornerstone of modern martial arts cinema. Blending stylised combat with historical drama, the series has explored themes of resistance, identity, and discipline through the life of Ip Man—the man who famously mentored Bruce Lee.

In addition to its four main films, the franchise has produced spin-offs like Ip Man: The Final Fight and Master Z: The Ip Man Legacy, expanding the cinematic universe of Wing Chun’s greatest master.

‘IP Man: Kung Fu Legend’ is expected to continue this tradition while providing new insights into the formative years and battles of the martial arts legend.
