Denzel Washington "Upset" On Not Receiving Gladiator II Oscar Nomination
February 9, 2025: Two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington has expressed his “upset” at not receiving another Academy Award nomination for his role in Gladiator II. Playfully acknowledging the snub, he commented on how he’s evolving both personally and professionally.
Having been nominated for 10 Oscars throughout his career, with wins for Glory (1988) and Training Day (2002), Washington reflected on his time in Hollywood, emphasizing his growing wisdom.
Although there was speculation last year regarding his retirement, Washington remains active in his craft, now set to take the stage in Broadway’s Othello. He is thrilled to star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, describing his co-star as “nuts” but a great talent. Washington shared his thoughts on acting techniques, revealing his preference for spontaneity in line delivery. Othello is set to open on March 23 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
