An adaptation of the 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, Deva reimagines the original with a twist in the climax. Shahid Kapoor stars as ACP Dev Ambre, a determined officer solving the murder of his best friend while grappling with memory loss. Pooja Hegde plays Diya Sathaye, a reporter and Dev’s lover, while Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait take on pivotal roles.
In an interview, Shahid Kapoor addressed comparisons between Deva and his iconic Kabir Singh, stating, “Deva is very unique; there is no Kabir Singh in it. This character stands apart.”
While the film has received mixed reviews, Shahid’s intense portrayal of ACP Dev has been widely praised.
With a reported budget of ₹50 crore, Deva faces stiff competition in theaters but remains a strong contender in the cop drama genre.
