Dhanush Reveals His Most Loved Watch is a $1 Childhood Gift from His Mother

Kollywood superstar Dhanush shared a personal and touching anecdote at the Dubai Watch Week, revealing that the piece which inspired his lifelong love for watches was not a luxury timepiece, but a simple, inexpensive watch gifted by his mother during his childhood.

🎁 The Priceless Gift

When asked about his first love when it came to watches, Dhanush dismissed expectations of a high-end brand and instead described the sentimental item:

  • Cost and Material: The watch cost less than $1 (approximately ₹89.64) and was made of plastic. It was a plain digital watch with no brand name, featuring only the time display and a small light.
  • Childhood Nostalgia: “I come from a very humble background, so once the batteries are out, your watch is done,” Dhanush explained. He recalled choosing between violet, yellow, and green colors with his sisters, calling it “very shiny and flashy.”
  • Enduring Love: Even after the battery ran out and the watch stopped showing time, Dhanush confessed, “I would still wear the watch and go to school… I really was in love with that watch.”

The actor confirmed that he still keeps that childhood watch in a case back at his home in Chennai, stating that for him, watches became the passion that others found in fast cars or gaming.
