Dhruv Vikram Gets Candid on Nepotism While Promoting Bison in Hyderabad
Actor Dhruv Vikram, son of star Vikram, addressed the topic of nepotism during the Hyderabad promotions for the upcoming Telugu release of his latest film, Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamaadan. The film, which hit Tamil screens on October 17, is set for its Telugu release on October 24.
At the press conference, Dhruv acknowledged the privilege of being a star kid but emphasized his commitment to earning acceptance from the audience.
Dhruv openly stated, “It’s true that I’m a star kid, and I am able to get opportunities. But, I am willing to do whatever it takes for the people to accept me, to love me, to love my work and for me to find a place in Tamil, Telugu, and Indian cinema. Until then, I think I will continue to work.”
Regarding his role in Bison, where he plays a kabaddi player, the actor stressed that he matched the effort an outsider would put into the opportunity. He constantly asked himself, “In my place, if there was a person who didn’t come from a film background, how much would he do? How much would he work? I would constantly have that in my brain and work for this movie and prepare for this movie.”
He added that he tried to put in the best effort possible, envisioning the dedication a professional kabaddi player would show if given the chance to work with director Mari Selvaraj.
Bison Kaalamaadan is written and directed by Mari Selvaraj and features Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles, alongside Pasupathy, Ameer, and others. The film is reportedly based on the life of kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan and chronicles a man’s struggle to excel in the sport while facing caste-based discrimination.
This marks Dhruv’s fourth film, following his debut in the two remakes of Arjun Reddy and his appearance in Karthik Subbaraj’s Mahaan (2022).
