Ranveer Singh’s film faces trolling over demonetisation detail, CBFC trims scenes
March 18, 2026: Central Board of Film Certification has granted an ‘A’ certificate to Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar. The film has a runtime of 229.6 minutes (3 hours 49 minutes), making it longer than its predecessor. The certification has sparked online chatter, with some users criticising the film for reportedly getting the date of demonetisation wrong, leading to trolling on social media.
The CBFC has mandated several changes, including trimming gory visuals and adding disclaimers for violence and drug use. Scenes depicting graphic violence such as hammer attacks and beheading have been toned down, while certain abusive words have been muted or replaced. The makers also secured clearance for references to the Prime Minister and use of news footage, alongside minor subtitle corrections and shortened end credits.
The film, set to release across multiple languages, features Ranveer Singh in dual roles, alongside R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt. The sequel explores the rise of Hamza Ali Mazari in Karachi while delving into his past, building on the narrative of the original film.
