Is Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar Set To Dominate Box Office?
Trade analysts predict a strong Day 1 of ₹18-20 crore for Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller, but current advance bookings fall short of Saiyaara and Animal.
December 4, 2025: The much-anticipated first collaboration between actor Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller Dhurandhar, is set for a worldwide release this Friday, but its advance booking trajectory has raised concerns among trade analysts.
While the film, which boasts a strong ensemble cast, saw a brisk initial response when pre-sales opened on Monday, crossing the ₹1 crore mark quickly, the momentum has significantly slowed down in the last two days.
As of 2 pm on Wednesday, just a day and a half before its theatrical debut, Dhurandhar‘s advance booking collection for the opening day stood at an underwhelming ₹2.28 crore net, with approximately 50,000 tickets sold nationwide.
This figure is considered subpar for a film of this scale and star power. Trade experts are speculating whether recent controversies surrounding the film may have deterred audiences, although the collection is expected to pick up pace as more shows open closer to the Friday release.
The slowing advance bookings have prompted trade experts to revise their opening day forecasts downwards. Previously, many predicted that Dhurandhar could achieve the biggest opening for a Hindi film this year, potentially surpassing titles like Chhaava and War 2.
However, a ₹25 crore+ opening now seems difficult. Current expert predictions place the film’s Day 1 collection in the range of ₹18-20 crore net in India, with some more conservative estimates going as low as ₹15 crore.
Regardless of the final figure, the film is now widely expected to fall short of the biggest Hindi film openings of the year, including Saiyaara (₹21.50 crore) and Chhaava (₹31 crore).
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a high-octane spy thriller reportedly set in Pakistan’s gangster hotbed of Lyari. Ranveer Singh leads the massive ensemble cast, which includes Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna. The film is slated for release across 5,000 screens in India on Friday, December 5
