Dhurandhar Jumps By 43% On New Year To Reach ₹739 Cr

The spy thriller registers a massive 40% jump on New Year’s Day, earning ₹15.75 crore; domestic net collection climbs to ₹739 crore.

January 2, 2026: Even in its fourth week, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continues to behave like a hurricane at the box office.

On Thursday, January 1, 2026, the film successfully fended off the challenge from the new release Ikkis, nearly doubling the opening day figures of the war drama.

Despite a reduction in screen count to accommodate the new arrival, Dhurandhar saw a festive surge, with evening occupancies touching 49% across major metros like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

Historic Fourth-Week Milestone

Dhurandhar has now achieved what was previously considered impossible for a single-language Hindi film:

  • Record-Breaking Week 4: The film earned over ₹106 crore in its fourth week alone, nearly doubling the previous record held by the Hindi version of Pushpa 2 (₹53.75 crore).
  • Double-Digit Streak: It has become the only Indian film to maintain double-digit daily collections (₹10 crore+) for 28 consecutive days.

The Global Rankings: Hunting ‘Jawan’ and ‘KGF 2’

The film’s relentless momentum has placed it in the elite tier of Indian cinema. By the end of its 28th day, it has redefined the “all-time” list.

FilmWorldwide Gross (₹)Status for Dhurandhar
Dhurandhar₹1,136.75 Cr
Jawan₹1,160 CrTarget: Surpass by Sunday
KGF Chapter 2₹1,215 CrTarget: Surpass by next week
Pushpa 2 (Hindi)₹812 Cr (Net)Target: Domestic Hindi record

Why the ‘Aandhi’ Won’t Stop

Trade analysts attribute the film’s longevity to three factors:

  1. The New Year Boost: A 40% jump on January 1st proves that the film has become the primary choice for families during the holiday window.
  2. Repeat Value: Reports of “packed shows” and “repeat audience footfall” suggest that the spy-thriller’s word-of-mouth is still attracting new viewers.
  3. Weak Competition: While Ikkis received positive reviews, its ₹7 crore opening was not enough to displace the Dhurandhar wave, which has already swept away major titles like Avatar: Fire and Ash and Tu Meri Main Tera.

What’s Next?

As it enters its fifth weekend, Dhurandhar is eyeing the ₹775–800 crore domestic net mark. If the current trend continues, it is on track to become the first outright Hindi film to touch the ₹1,200 crore global mark without a multi-language or China release.
