Diljit Dosanjh Addresses Racism During Australia 'AURA' Tour, Calls for Unity
Musician-actor Diljit Dosanjh, currently traversing the globe for his latest album, AURA, recently shared a video that offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at his time and live show preparations in Australia, specifically before his Sydney concert.
In the footage, Dosanjh revealed an unpleasant experience where he faced racist comments online following his arrival in Australia.
Diljit explained that after paparazzi agencies shared pictures of him landing, the comment sections were flooded with derogatory and racist remarks.
“People said things like, the new Uber driver is here, or the new 7-11 employee has landed,” he shared.
Despite witnessing these comments, Dosanjh maintained a thoughtful and measured perspective. He stressed his belief that the “world should be one and there should be no borders.”
He also expressed that he doesn’t take offense to being compared to workers in service industries, emphasizing their vital contributions to the country’s function.
“I don’t mind being compared to a cab or truck driver. If truck drivers cease to exist, you won’t get bread for your home. I’m not angry, and my love goes out to everyone, even the ones who say things like that about me,” Diljit stated.
His response resonated deeply with fans, who flooded his comments with messages of respect and support. Following the Sydney event, Diljit was scheduled to perform in Brisbane, Australia.
