
Diljit Dosanjh Adopts 10 Flood-Hit Villages in Punjab as Celebrities Unite for Relief Efforts
Chandigarh, September 2 — As Punjab battles one of its worst flood crises in recent years, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has stepped forward in a big way, adopting 10 of the worst-hit villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar.
Working closely with NGOs and the local administration, Dosanjh’s team announced on Instagram that their relief mission is focused on urgent essentials like food, clean water, and medical supplies, while also mapping out rehabilitation and long-term reconstruction plans.
The heartfelt message posted by his team read: “Together, we can rebuild.”
The floods have left thousands displaced, and the spirit of unity among Punjabi celebrities is shining through as many have pledged support.
Actor Sonam Bajwa shared an emotional appeal on Instagram, writing:
“In these difficult times, my heart goes out to Punjab and everyone affected by the floods. The images and stories are truly heartbreaking, but the resilience of Punjab keeps me hopeful. I am doing my part by donating to organisations on the ground, and I urge everyone to contribute—every small step can change someone’s life right now.”
Veteran actor Sanjay Dutt also extended his prayers and support on X, saying:
“The devastation caused by the floods in Punjab is truly heartbreaking. Sending strength and prayers to everyone impacted. I will support in every way I can. May Babaji bless and protect all in Punjab.”
Singer-actor Ammy Virk has committed to rebuilding lives directly, announcing that he has adopted 200 homes for flood-hit families.
“Seeing our people without a roof over their heads has left me devastated. In our small effort to bring comfort, we are adopting 200 houses to support those who have lost everything. This is not just about shelter—it’s about giving hope, dignity, and strength to start again,” he shared.
Punjabi star Himanshi Khurana too pledged her support, promising to help resettle 10 families.
“Today, seeing Punjab in such a condition, every Punjabi’s heart is crying. According to my capacity, I will help resettle 10 families. In this devastating situation, we must unite—celebrities, leaders, media, and the public—all of us together can rebuild Punjab,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government continues its relief operations. According to Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian, over 2.56 lakh people in 12 districts have been affected.
So far, 15,688 people have been evacuated, with the highest numbers from Gurdaspur (5,549), followed by Ferozepur (3,321) and Fazilka (2,049).
The state has also set up 129 relief camps sheltering over 7,144 people, with Ferozepur housing the majority at 3,987.
With celebrities, government, and ordinary citizens stepping in, Punjab is seeing a wave of unity, resilience, and compassion amid heartbreak and devastation.
