Diljit Dosanjh Announces Second Film With Imtiaz Ali
After the global success of Chamkila, Diljit Dosanjh confirms his second untitled project with director Imtiaz Ali, sharing a candid 4:30 AM vlog from the Punjab sets.
December 12, 2025: Actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has officially confirmed his second collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, a project currently underway in Punjab. Dosanjh revealed the reunion through a candid behind-the-scenes vlog shared on Instagram, following the massive critical success of their first joint venture, Amar Singh Chamkila.
The vlog provides a rare glimpse into Diljit’s disciplined life on set. The actor is seen starting his day as early as 4:30 am with a quick workout session before having a breakfast of fruits and protein. The video then shows him heading to the shoot location, where he is filmed shooting sequences in front of a green screen. The biggest reveal is a warm interaction with Imtiaz Ali on set, confirming the director is once again at the helm of this untitled project. After wrapping up the day’s filming, Diljit returns to a picturesque haveli in Punjab where he is currently staying.
The new film is billed as a charming story of love and longing. According to previous reports, it will also feature Sharvari, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah. The project will also see the reunion of the successful music trio: director Imtiaz Ali, music composer A.R. Rahman, and lyricist Irshad Kamil. The film is slated for a theatrical release on Baisakhi in April 2026.
This second collaboration follows the highly praised biographical drama Amar Singh Chamkila, based on the life of the controversial Punjabi musician. That film, which also starred Parineeti Chopra as Chamkila’s wife Amarjot, showcased Diljit’s acting prowess and was celebrated for its cultural impact. Amar Singh Chamkila‘s success extended internationally, earning two prestigious nominations at the International Emmy Awards: Best Actor for Diljit Dosanjh and Best TV Movie/Mini-Series. This recognition was hailed for placing Punjabi and Indian cinema on the global stage.
In addition to the project with Imtiaz Ali, Diljit Dosanjh is set to appear in a major patriotic role in the highly anticipated sequel, Border 2. In the film, he will be seen in an intense and heroic avatar, reportedly playing a courageous fighter pilot. Directed by Anurag Singh, the cast also includes Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. Backed by T-Series and J.P. Films, Border 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on January 23, 2026, promising to be one of the year’s biggest releases.
