May 9, 2025: After a blockbuster 2024 marked by his Dil-Luminati world tour and a memorable appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Diljit Dosanjh has once again taken the global spotlight—this time at fashion’s biggest night. Making his debut at the Met Gala 2025, the Punjabi superstar didn’t just attend—he dominated.

In a stunning victory, Diljit was voted Best Dressed Celebrity at this year’s Met Gala in Vogue‘s global readers’ poll, outshining 306 other A-listers. He beat out heavyweights including fellow debutant Shah Rukh Khan and Met Gala veteran Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Diljit’s show-stopping look, designed by Atelier Prabal Gurung, was a regal homage to his Punjabi heritage and a tribute to Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. His ensemble featured a cream matelassé sherwani jacket embellished with intricate rose gold floral crystal embroidery. This was paired with a leopard-print silk shirt, sleek black leather pants, and bold accessories including a jewel-studded turban with a feather, a lion-headed kirpan, and his signature tinted glasses.

The look was elevated with a layered gemstone necklace—featuring an emerald centre reminiscent of the iconic Patiala Necklace by Cartier—alongside a Cartier watch and other opulent touches that seamlessly blended tradition with high fashion.

Perhaps the most iconic element was his custom-made cape, hand-embroidered by 50 artisans over four days. It featured a detailed map of Punjab, interwoven with Gurumukhi script in rich gold thread—a couture statement that embodied pride, heritage, and storytelling.

From his bold cultural statement to his commanding red carpet presence, Diljit Dosanjh didn’t just attend the Met Gala—he made history.
