Diljit Dosanjh Shares Emotional BTS Glimpses as ‘Border 2’ Storms Into Theaters

The long-awaited sequel to India’s most iconic war epic has finally arrived. As Border 2 hits the big screen today, January 23, 2026, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh took to social media to share a deeply personal tribute to the film and the legendary hero he portrays.

Playing Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon—the only member of the Indian Air Force to be honored with the Param Vir Chakra—Diljit expressed that this role was more than just a job; it was a profound responsibility.

Rare Glimpses from the Frontlines (of Filmmaking)

To mark the release, Diljit shared a series of unseen behind-the-scenes (BTS) photographs that capture the scale and soul of the production:

  • The Hero’s Shadow: One poignant image shows Diljit standing in uniform beside the statue of Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, a moment of silent reflection before bringing the martyr’s story to life.
  • On-Set Bonds: Other slides feature candid moments with co-star Sonam Bajwa and heartwarming shots of Diljit smiling with local children during the outdoor shoot.
  • The Look of Determination: The first image in the set captures Diljit in full cockpit gear, his eyes reflecting the steely resolve of a fighter pilot.

A Tribute to Two Years of Grit

In a caption written in a mix of Punjabi and English, Diljit credited director Anurag Singh for his relentless two-year commitment to the project.

“Baut hard work kita saari team ne… Anurag Bhai di 2 saalon di mehnat aa,” Diljit wrote, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to step into the shoes of a national icon. He described the experience as a matter of immense “Maan” (pride) and “Shukar” (thankfulness).

Early Reactions: Whistles, Patriotism, and Power

As theaters across India report high attendance for morning shows, the early word-of-mouth suggests a blockbuster in the making:

  • The Action: Fans are hailing the high-octane aerial combat sequences featuring Diljit’s character.
  • The Legacy: Sunny Deol’s return as Subedar Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri (now in a senior rank) has reportedly led to theater-wide cheers, while Varun Dhawan’s climactic performance is being called a career-best.
  • The Music: The revamped versions of “Ghar Kab Aaoge” and the new anthem “Mitti Ke Bete” are already moving audiences to tears.

With an ensemble cast including Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, and Mona Singh, Border 2 appears to have successfully carried the torch of the 1997 original, blending raw war action with deep-seated national emotion.
