The Kapoor ‘Khaandaan’ invites audiences to their legendary annual family lunch in a new documentary, offering an intimate, fly-on-the-wall glimpse into 100 years of the film family’s legacy, laughter, and love for food.
October 31, 2025: Prepare for a feast of nostalgia, laughter, and intimate family secrets as Netflix officially announces the release date for its much-anticipated documentary special, Dining With The Kapoors. The show is all set to premiere on November 21.
The announcement, accompanied by a new eye-catching poster, invites viewers to join Bollywood’s first film family for their iconic annual family lunch, an event that celebrates their deep-rooted connection to cinema and their collective love for food.
A Celebration of a Century of Stardom
The documentary is a heartfelt tribute marking 100 years of the legendary patriarch, Raj Kapoor, and nearly a century of the Kapoor family’s dominance in Indian cinema.
Conceptualized by Armaan Jain, written and directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Smriti Mundhra (of The Romantics fame), and produced by Aavashyak Media, the special is shot in a fly-on-the-wall style, promising an unfiltered view of the family’s dynamics.
“Bringing the Kapoor khandan together around the table felt like unlocking generations of stories — the laughter, the chaos, the endless food, and of course, the banter that’s basically in our DNA,” shared Creator and Showrunner Armaan Jain, calling the project his way of honoring his ‘Nanaji’ (Raj Kapoor).
Star-Studded Dinner Table
The special brings together multiple generations of the illustrious clan, including veteran actors Randhir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, along with modern superstars Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and their spouses Saif Ali Khan and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, among many others.
Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, lauded the project: “As the Kapoor clan comes together to celebrate 100 years of their legendary patriarch, Raj Kapoor, the table overflows with food, laughter, and love… the film offers an intimate glimpse into the traditions, conversations, and bonds that define the Kapoor Khaandaan.”
The Question of Alia Bhatt’s Absence
While the documentary features numerous core family members and their spouses, the notable omission of Alia Bhatt, who is married to Ranbir Kapoor, from the official cast announcements and promotional tags has sparked curiosity among fans. The list of attendees includes other spouses like Saif Ali Khan and Armaan Jain’s wife, Anissa Jain, leaving the question of Alia’s participation a key talking point ahead of the premiere.
Dining With The Kapoors streams exclusively on Netflix starting November 21.
