May 10, 2025: Director Uttam Maheshwari has issued a public apology following intense backlash over the timing of the announcement for his upcoming film Operation Sindoor, which is inspired by India’s recent military action after the Pahalgam terror attack. Critics labelled the timing “insensitive,” arguing it capitalized on a still-developing and emotional national event.

In a heartfelt statement on social media, Maheshwari clarified that the film was conceived out of “respect and love for the nation,” not for fame or commercial gain. “I understand the timing and sensitivity may have caused discomfort or pain to some. For that, I deeply regret,” he stated.

The director emphasized that the film is “not just a cinematic venture” but “an emotion of the entire nation,” aimed at presenting India’s strength and unity on a global stage. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs, adding that the country’s prayers remain with the brave soldiers safeguarding the borders.
