Divided by Borders, United by ‘Heeramandi’: Netizens React to Bhansali’s Latest on Netflix

Heeramandi is trending and how. Everyone has an outlook about it. Some love it, while many hate it.

The series, streaming on Netflix has further accentuated the India-Pak difference of opinion. Here are some gems that we have pulled out of X and what netizens have to say about the series.

Just watched Heeramandi. Found everything but heermandi in it. I mean either you don’t set your story in 1940’s Lahore, or if you do- you don’t set it in Agra’s landscape, Delhi’s Urdu, Lakhnavi dresses and 1840’s vibe. My not-so-sorry Lahori self can’t really let it go.

On the other hand, Indians had this to say:

everyone on my tl getting mad at bhansali saying that heermandi wasn’t “lahori” enough is so funny to me bcs when has bhansali ever made historically accurate stuff? even devdas wasn’t “bengali” enough. historical accuracy is the last thing you should expect in a bhansali film

Many Pakistanis were actually fretting their loss of narrative of Lahore as a cultural centre to India
Watching heermandi wat a delight to watch Lahore being the centre of culture now reduced to tlp n has lost its legacy of music art dance !! India evn stole that frm us !!!
