
DK Shivakumar Hosts Shabana Azmi And Javed Akhtar At His Residence
March 24, 2025: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar recently met veteran actress Shabana Azmi and legendary lyricist Javed Akhtar at his residence in Sadashivanagar. The Congress leader congratulated Azmi for receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th International Film Festival held in Bangalore.
Shivakumar shared a picture from their meeting on his X account (formerly Twitter) and expressed his joy in congratulating the celebrated actress. He wrote in Kannada, “Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar and veteran actress Shabana Azmi met me at my home today. I congratulated Shabana Azmi on being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th International Film Festival. I had a cordial discussion with Akhtar.”
Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had the honor of presenting Shabana Azmi with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival. The actress, a five-time National Film Award winner, is well-known for her exceptional work in films like Ankur, Arth, Khandhar, Godmother, and Paar. Over the years, she has earned numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri in 1988 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012.
Currently, Shabana Azmi is set to play a crucial role in Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming film Lahore 1947, alongside Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. The film, which is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, marks the 17th production of the studio. It brings together a unique collaboration between Sunny Deol, Rajkumar Santoshi, and Aamir Khan, creating high anticipation for the project.
