Doctors Provide Update On Saif’s Health, Says “He suffered A Thoracic Spinal Cord Injury, Completely Stable Now”

January 16, 2025: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering at Lilavati Hospital after being attacked by an intruder at his Mumbai residence early Thursday morning. Following the attack, Khan underwent surgery and is now reported to be “completely stable.”

According to Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital, Saif Ali Khan sustained a serious thoracic spinal cord injury after a knife became lodged in his spine during the assault. “Saif Ali Khan was admitted to the hospital at 2 am with alleged history of assault by some unknown person. He sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine. A surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid,” Dr. Dange explained.

In addition to the spine injury, Khan also suffered deep wounds on his left hand and neck. These injuries were addressed by a plastic surgery team at the hospital. “Two other deep wounds on his left hand and one other on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team. He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger now,” Dr. Dange added.

Earlier, Saif Ali Khan’s team issued a statement reassuring fans that the actor is recovering well. “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident,” the statement said.

Mumbai Police have also made progress in the investigation, with Dixit Gedam, DCP Zone 9, confirming that one of the accused has been identified. The police believe the attack was part of an attempted burglary. “It has been discovered that the accused used the fire escape to enter their house. So far, the investigation suggests that it was an attempted burglary. We are making every effort to arrest the accused as soon as possible,” Gedam shared. He added that teams are actively working to apprehend the culprit, with 10 detection teams on the case.

The incident occurred at Saif Ali Khan’s residence in the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, where an intruder allegedly confronted Khan’s maid. When Saif intervened to de-escalate the situation, the confrontation turned physical, leading to the actor sustaining injuries. He was promptly taken to Lilavati Hospital for medical treatment.

Upon hearing about the incident, several members of the film industry expressed concern for the actor’s health. Filmmaker Siddharth Anand and his wife, Mamta Bhatia-Anand, were seen at the hospital, visiting Saif Ali Khan during this challenging time.
