March 17, 2025: Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran recently stunned fans in New Orleans with an impromptu street performance, debuting his new single "Azizam" live for the first time. The British artist, known for his heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies, brought a special surprise to the city, armed with only a portable amp and mic, before joining forces with The Soul Rebels brass band for an unforgettable performance.

The Soul Rebels, who gained international recognition for accompanying Kendrick Lamar during the Super Bowl halftime show, joined Sheeran as he performed "Azizam" — a track that, until that moment, had never been heard live. In a candid announcement to the crowd, Sheeran revealed that it was the first time he was performing the song, marking a major milestone for both him and his fans.

"We're gonna do one song here, we're filming a bit of content - and then we're going to do a parade and walk down and play some songs if you want to come with us," Sheeran told the crowd. His excitement was palpable, and the spontaneous nature of the performance only added to the electric atmosphere.

Sheeran also teased the crowd by revealing that the song would be performed again as part of a mini-parade down the streets of New Orleans. "I've got a new song coming in a couple of weeks that no one's heard. This will be the first time it's ever been played live," he added.

The performance, which was shared on Sheeran's Instagram, captivated his fans and became a viral moment. "Playing some new music today on the streets of New Orleans with @thesoulrebels thanks to everyone who turned up!" he captioned the post.

This wasn’t the first time Sheeran has attempted surprise performances. Earlier in February, he tried to host a street concert in Bengaluru, India, but local authorities intervened before the performance could fully unfold. Sheeran addressed the situation on Instagram, clarifying that he had permission to busk in the area, adding, "All good though, see ya at the show tonight x."

Sheeran's new music continues to excite his global fanbase as he prepares to release his eighth studio album, Play, later this year. His previous album, Autumn Variations, debuted in 2023, setting high expectations for his future releases. Fans are eagerly awaiting what the singer has in store next as he continues to push boundaries with his music and connect with fans in the most unexpected ways.
