ED Summons Urvashi Rautela, Mimi Chakraborty in Illegal Betting App Probe

The Enforcement Directorate has issued summons to actress Urvashi Rautela and former TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty in connection with an illegal online betting case.

September 15, 2025: As part of its investigation into charges of money laundering linked to the unlicensed betting software 1xBet, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has asked actress Urvashi Rautela and former Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty to testify.

According to official sources, Mimi Chakraborty has been told to go to the agency’s headquarters in Delhi on Monday, and Urvashi Rautela is expected to testify on Tuesday. The investigation is looking at the celebrities’ alleged support of an online betting firm that is being accused of financial crimes.

Just a few days after the central agency questioned and recorded the testimonies of former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan in the same case, the summons came. The ED’s investigation is aimed to find out what kinds of advertising contracts they have and how much they were paid to promote the app.

The ED believes that Rautela and Chakraborty may have both pushed the 1xBet app, which would have made it seem more real and helped it attract more users. The agency wants to know what kind of business they have with the company and how much money they are exchanging.

The 1xBet app, which is based in Cyprus, enables you bet on sports and play casino games online. The corporation has been looked at by people all around the world, and it has had to stop doing business in the UK, the US, and Russia, among other places.

The probe is part of a larger operation to shut down illegal online gambling and betting businesses that are thought to be taking crores of rupees from investors and not paying taxes. Along with Ranbir Kapoor, Rana Daggubati, and Prakash Raj, a number of other well-known personalities have been questioned in connection with the investigation into the illegal betting app Mahadev Satta.

Under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the ED would probably question Chakraborty and Rautela to find out what they did in the case. The agency is examining more closely at the link between illegal internet betting sites and the famous people who back them. This indicates that there will be more lawsuits against these kind of sponsorships.
