Eight Years Later, ‘Stained’ Lives On: Selena Gomez Finally Drops Fan-Favorite Track

Selena Gomez surprises fans with the official release of her long-shelved track Stained, thanking loyal listeners for keeping it alive since its leak in 2016.

Washington [US], March 23: After years of fan requests and internet whispers, Selena Gomez has finally released Stained, a previously unreleased track recorded during her Revival era. The song, long beloved by diehard fans after it leaked in 2016, is now available for a limited time exclusively through Gomez’s official store.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Gomez made the surprise announcement, expressing heartfelt gratitude to her fans.
“Eight years later and you guys never forgot about this song,” she wrote. “Your love for Stained has never gone away, and I wanted to do something special to say thank you for all the love and support on the album. Stained is now available exclusively on my official store for a limited time only. #Stained.”

Originally intended for her 2015 album Revival, Stained never made the final tracklist—until now. Fans have long considered it a lost gem, and its official release comes as a nostalgic gift timed with Gomez’s latest creative chapter.

The song drop follows the recent release of Gomez’s new album I Said I Love You First, a deeply personal 15-track collaboration with fiancé Benny Blanco. Released under SMG Music, Friends Keep Secrets, and Interscope Records, the album marks the couple’s first official musical project together.

The pair, who confirmed their romance in December 2023, have been openly celebrating their journey—from Blanco’s 37th birthday earlier this month to revisiting the restaurant where they had their first date.

Gomez, who called Blanco her “baby” in a touching birthday tribute on Instagram, continues to embrace both her musical evolution and her personal milestones with authenticity. The couple also announced their engagement in December 2024, according to People magazine.

With the release of Stained, Gomez adds a nostalgic yet fresh layer to her discography—one that proves some songs, like some love stories, only get better with time.
