Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat BO Collection Day 1: Harshvardhan Rane Film beats Dhadak 2, Mints THIS Amount
The romantic drama delivered a massive surprise on Diwali, netting a solid collection and officially beating the opening day figures of Dhadak 2. Harshvardhan Rane secures his career-best start, proving that content and music can beat the biggest festive clash.
October 22, 2025: While most of the Hindi film trade had bet on the Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Thamma to dominate the Diwali 2025 box office, the romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat delivered an unexpected and solid opening, netting ₹8.50 crore on its release day, Tuesday.
The Milap Zaveri-directed film, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, stood up against the heavy competition of the holiday weekend, securing one of the biggest opening-day collections for a romantic drama in 2025.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat earned ₹8.50 crore net domestically on the day of its release. The film’s strong performance, particularly in tier-2 centers, had briefly hinted at a double-digit opening (₹10+ crore), but the final figures settled just under that mark.
“This is a good number for the film, which does not boast of any big names and had to fight Thamma for screens nationwide,” noted a trade analyst. The film’s musical-drama genre and intense romance theme, which was heavily promoted, seem to have resonated with a significant audience.
The opening collection places Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat firmly in the league of successful romantic openers this year. It trails only the record-breaking ₹20.50 crore start of Saiyaara, but has convincingly surpassed other notable releases like Dhadak 2 (₹4 crore) and Metro In Dino (₹3 crore).
Written and directed by Milap Zaveri, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat also features Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan in key roles.
The film’s pre-release buzz was fueled by a unique promotional campaign that saw lead actor Harshvardhan Rane personally engaging with audiences, including selling tickets at the box office and pasting promotional bills across Mumbai, creating a grassroots connection that may have contributed to the strong initial footfalls.
The movie, originally titled Deewaniyat, tells a tale of obsessive love. With its strong opening, the film is now positioned for a potentially lucrative extended Diwali weekend.
