After making waves in theaters, the much-talked-about film ‘Emanuelle’ is now headed to the streaming world. Starring Noémie Merlant, Naomi Watts, and Will Sharpe, the film will premiere exclusively on Lionsgate Play on April 11.

Directed, co-written, and produced by Audrey Diwan, Emanuelle offers a modern, intimate reimagining of the iconic story—this time viewed through the lens of female desire and personal rediscovery.


🎥 A Role That Resonated Deeply

Ahead of the digital release, Noémie Merlant reflected on her experience and connection with the character.

“I didn’t know Emmanuelle at all—neither the book nor the film. All I knew was the buzz that had surrounded the film when it was released,” Merlant said in a press statement.

The Portrait of a Lady on Fire actress revealed that director Audrey Diwan personally envisioned her for the role just days before their first meeting.

“When I read the script, I was caught up in this intimate journey. I had the feeling of going on an inner journey since it resembled my own,” she shared.
“It’s the journey of a woman trying to reconnect with her body and her desire—something that touches me very personally, like many women.”
