January 16, 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended a special screening of the film Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut, on Thursday, Kangana, who is also a politician, warmly greeted the Chief Minister as he arrived at the theater for the screening.
Earlier, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had also attended a screening of Emergency in Nagpur. Kangana shared a couple of pictures from the event on Instagram, where Gadkari, Kangana, and co-star Anupam Kher could be seen chatting. She captioned the post, " #emergency with @gadkari.nitin ji Releasing 17th January."
Gadkari also praised the film on X, commending the filmmakers and actors for presenting "the dark chapter of our nation's history with such authenticity and excellence." He urged people to watch the film, describing it as a portrayal of a significant period in India's history.
Emergency, which will be released in theaters on January 17, explores the 21-month-long Emergency imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977 and its aftermath. The film stars Kangana as Indira Gandhi and features Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik.
Kangana and Anupam Kher spoke about their collaboration on the film. Kangana expressed her deep admiration for Kher, calling him the "hero" of the film and revealing that she would not have made Emergency without him. "It was very important for me to have Anupam ji in this film. If he refused to do Emergency, then I wouldn't have made it. Look at his on-screen personality...there's honesty on his face. No one can portray the role of Jayaprakash Narayan except him," Kangana shared.
