April 18, 2025: Actress Lily Collins is gearing up to head back to Paris and Rome as production for season five of the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris is set to begin this May. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production will kick off in Rome before moving back to Paris later this summer.
The new season will see Collins reprise her role as Emily Cooper, alongside her fellow cast members Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), Thalia Besson (Genevieve), and Eugenio Franceschini (Marcello). However, one notable absence this season will be Camille Razat, who played Camille in the first four seasons. Razat will not be returning for the fifth season, much to the disappointment of fans.

One of the most surprising returns is Lucas Bravo as Gabriel. In the past, Bravo had expressed frustration over the direction his character was taking, particularly his portrayal as “melancholic, sad, depressed, and lost” over the past three seasons. Last year, Bravo revealed that he was questioning whether he wanted to return for season five. He said, “I want to see if Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self, because three seasons playing melancholic… is not fun anymore.”

While few details about season five have been revealed, the fourth season finale set the stage for some exciting developments. The Agence Grateau opened a new office in Rome, and Sylvie wants Emily to lead the branch, offering Emily the opportunity to stay in Italy, where she’s developed a romantic connection with Marcello. Meanwhile, Emily’s relationship with Gabriel was left unresolved, leaving plenty of room for tension and drama.
Creator Darren Star teased fans after season four’s conclusion, saying, “Agence Grateau opened an office in Rome. They can be in more than one city, and Emily can spend time in Rome. She can spend time in Paris, too. She’s not leaving Paris. We’ll spend some time in Rome. But she did not change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome,” hinting at the balance of both cities in the upcoming season.
