‘Emily in Paris’ Season 5 to Film in Venice This August Ahead of Venice Film Festival

Netflix’s hit series ‘Emily in Paris’ brings Lily Collins and the glamorous cast to Venice’s historic center from August 15–25, with production wrapping just before the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

[Venice, Italy] – July 14, 2025 — After Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s high-profile wedding brought a wave of A-list celebrities to Venice in June, the iconic Italian city is once again ready to host the stars — this time for the filming of Netflix’s fan-favorite series Emily in Paris.

Venice Mayor Luca Zaia confirmed over the weekend that the fifth season of the stylish rom-com series will shoot in the lagoon city’s historic center from August 15 to August 25. Filming will conclude just two days before the Venice Film Festival officially begins on August 27, potentially turning the floating city into a double hotspot of Hollywood glamour and international cinema buzz.

“This extraordinary news confirms that our territory is increasingly attractive to big audiovisual productions, thanks to its unique heritage and the teamwork between institutions and professionals in the sector,” Zaia wrote on social media.

The mayor acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Veneto Film Commission and local production company 360 Degrees Film, who worked closely with series director Andrew Fleming in scouting and securing locations.

🇮🇹 Emily Heads to Italy — But Paris Still Beckons

Season 5 of Emily in Paris will see the beloved American expat Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, attempt to build a life in Rome while navigating a romantic relationship with Marcello, portrayed by Eugenio Franceschini. She’ll also be managing the Italian branch of French marketing firm Agence Grateau, adding professional pressure to her picturesque surroundings.

Despite the temporary Italian setting, series creator Darren Starr has made it clear that Emily’s romance with Paris is far from over. Fans can expect the series to return to the French capital later in the season, maintaining its iconic Parisian flair.

Netflix officially kicked off buzz for the Italian shoot with a July 2nd Instagram post, featuring a photo of Lily Collins perched on a Vespa, evoking classic Roman holiday vibes.

🎬 Star-Studded Cast Joins Emily in Italy

Alongside Lily Collins and Eugenio Franceschini, the upcoming season welcomes several high-profile cast members:

  • Minnie Driver, Academy Award–nominated actor known for Good Will Hunting and Will & Grace, will play Princess Jane, a royal and close friend of Sylvie.
  • Michèle Laroque, acclaimed French actress, steps in as Yvette, an old friend of Sylvie’s.
  • Bryan Greenberg, known for roles in Suits LA, Junction, and How to Make It in America, joins as Jake, an American living in Paris.

The synergy between American and European characters is expected to heighten the show’s appeal as it continues its glamorous globetrotting narrative.
