Eminem has announced the release of the Expanded Mourner’s Edition of his album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), set to drop this Friday, September 13, 2024.
The announcement was made via a cinematic teaser posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the video, Eminem enters a convenience store, grabs a carton of milk, and drops it, revealing a missing person ad for his alter ego, Slim Shady. Producer Alchemist makes a brief appearance, telling Eminem to never return, fueling speculation that he might be involved in producing new tracks for the album.
The original album, released in July, was a concept piece that marked the symbolic “death” of Slim Shady, a persona famous for controversial, rebellious lyrics. Notable tracks from the album include Houdini, Tobey (featuring Big Sean and Babytron), and Somebody Save Me (featuring Jelly Roll). The Expanded Mourner’s Edition is expected to feature additional content, though details remain under wrap. Fans are eagerly anticipating new tracks, possibly produced by Alchemist.
Eminem’s announcement comes ahead of his scheduled performance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, where he will open the show.
