Emmy Awards 2025: Adolescence Star Owen Cooper Beats Javier Bardem, Becomes The Youngest Actor To Win Award

At just 15 years old, Owen Cooper has shattered a long-standing record, becoming the youngest male actor to ever win an Emmy and captivating the world.

September 15, 2025: At the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, Owen Cooper, a 15-year-old British actor, won Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series. He was the youngest person ever to win an Emmy for acting. His triumph for his first appearance in the Netflix show Adolescence is a big deal for the corporation and has made the young star the center of attention.

Cooper, who was only 14 when the movie was made, beat out a lot of well-known actors, like Ashley Walters, his own co-star, Oscar winner Javier Bardem (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Peter Sarsgaard (Presumed Innocent), and Rob Delaney (Dying for Sex).

He won for his amazing and well-received work on the four-part series Adolescence. People have applauded the show for its technical skill and honest criticism of society. It deals with tough topics including incel culture and teen violence. Everyone understood that each episode was filmed in one long take, which made the honest and heartfelt performances even better.

Cooper told the journalists backstage, “I really don’t know what to say,” which demonstrated that he was clearly feeling overwhelmed by what was going on. He won, which is even more impressive because Adolescence was his first job as a professional actor.

The Peacock Theater in Los Angeles hosted the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. There were a lot of records and surprises that night. Adolescence won the Limited Series category, but Seth Rogen’s new comedy series The Studio set a record for the most wins by a comedy in a single season.

On the other hand, Cooper’s historic win stole the show. It showed that even the best athletes can lose to someone who does well at first. His accomplishment proves that there are still creative people out there and that TV shows are changing.
