The star reflects on the global success of the iconic series and how it redefined female-led television drama

Los Angeles, April 6:
Actress Eva Longoria says she would be the first to sign up if a Desperate Housewives reboot were ever greenlit, expressing her love and pride for the series that catapulted her to global stardom.

In a recent interview with Stellar magazine, Longoria didn’t hesitate when asked about returning to Wisteria Lane.

“I would be the first person,” she said enthusiastically, adding that she remains “super proud” of the show’s legacy.

Debuting in 2004, Desperate Housewives ran for eight seasons and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The mix of dark comedy, mystery, and emotional drama helped redefine the “dramedy” genre, something Longoria instantly noticed when she first read the script.

“I only knew it was super special because it was odd. It was the first time I had read a dramedy, so I didn’t get it,” she recalled.

The show’s success launched Longoria into the international spotlight. Reflecting on her sudden rise to fame, she shared a surreal moment from an early trip to London:

“I said: ‘Is Bono here?’ And they said: ‘No, they are here for you, that’s why they are out there.’ I couldn’t believe they would even know me, because I’d never been to London. That realization of the global reach of the show was really weird — and great at the same time.”

As the youngest among the show’s leading ladies, Longoria said the attention was unexpected but welcomed. She credited Desperate Housewives with paving the way for future female-led dramas, celebrating its enduring influence in the TV landscape.

Though no official reboot plans have been announced, Longoria’s enthusiasm might just spark a new wave of fan demand — and perhaps, another round of secrets and scandals on Wisteria Lane.
