Fawad Khan Returns to Bollywood with Vaani Kapoor in Romantic Drama ‘Abir Gulaal’
Mumbai, April 1: In a heartwarming comeback that’s sending fans into a frenzy, Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan is returning to Indian cinema after almost nine years with the romantic comedy ‘Abir Gulaal’, co-starring Vaani Kapoor. The much-anticipated teaser dropped on Tuesday, bringing with it a wave of nostalgia and excitement across social media.
The teaser, oozing old-school Bollywood charm, features Fawad serenading Vaani with a soulful rendition of the timeless classic “Kuch Naa Kaho” from ‘1942: A Love Story’. The rain-drenched setting, the flirtatious banter, and the palpable chemistry between the lead pair set the tone for what promises to be a refreshing romantic journey.
“Are you flirting with me?” Vaani’s character teases.
“Do you want me to?” Fawad responds, with his signature charisma.
The teaser wraps up with a simple yet powerful message: “Bringing love back.”
Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, Abir Gulaal narrates the story of two emotionally scarred individuals whose paths unexpectedly cross, leading them on a journey of healing, self-discovery, and love. Bagdi describes the film as “a celebration of love that blooms in the wake of emotional repair.”
Produced by Vivek B. Agrawal, Avantika Hari, and Rakesh Sippy, the film is set to hit theatres on May 9, 2025.
Fawad, known for his breakout roles in ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ and Bollywood hits like ‘Khoobsurat’ (2014) and ‘Kapoor & Sons’ (2016), was last seen in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ before political tensions led to a pause in cross-border artistic collaborations.
Now, with Abir Gulaal, Fawad’s re-entry into Hindi cinema marks not just a cinematic return, but also a symbolic one — reigniting hopes for renewed cultural exchange and collaboration.
