The buzz around Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues to grow, with its attention to detail and character portrayals drawing widespread appreciation. One of the standout performances in the film has been that of Sanjay Dutt, who plays Pakistani police officer Chaudhry Aslam — a role that has now received a heartfelt endorsement from Aslam’s widow.
In a recent conversation with Aaj Tak Radio, Noreen Aslam shared her thoughts on the film and Dutt’s portrayal of her late husband. She said the actor’s look and screen presence bore a striking resemblance to the real-life figure.
“Sanjay Dutt’s look and get-up matched really well. For a moment, it felt like it was actually Chaudhry,” she said, recalling a particular scene where Dutt raises his eyes while standing beside a car. “That moment stood out for me.”
She further praised the overall presentation of the character, adding that the styling and setup suited Dutt perfectly. “There’s no doubt about it — his acting was very well done,” she noted.
However, Noreen also pointed out certain aspects that did not sit well with her, particularly the use of strong language in the film. While acknowledging that such language may be common in policing environments, she said it could feel uncomfortable from a family perspective.
“There were quite a lot of profanities, which disturbed me. In the police profession, it might be normal, but for families, it can be problematic,” she said, though reiterating that Dutt was well-suited for the role.
Reflecting on the emotional depth of the portrayal, she added that the actor managed to bring life to the character. “Reality is reality, and the role was executed well. Some elements matched, especially his appearance and the intensity in his eyes,” she said.
Noreen also revealed that both Dutt and Chaudhry Aslam held mutual respect for each other, and she herself has long admired the actor’s work.
At the same time, she expressed that the filmmakers could have consulted her, law enforcement officials, or journalists to better capture the full spectrum of Aslam’s personality. “He achieved things that many in the police could not. Others were on one side, but Chaudhry Aslam stood apart,” she said.
She added that she watched the film only up to the blast sequence, without completing it.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge features Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy. The film also stars Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal and Rakesh Bedi as Jameel Jamali.
The film has been performing exceptionally well at the box office, crossing ₹1,100 crore in India within just 15 days, while its overseas collections are nearing ₹1,500 crore.
